The Stockholms Stora Pris race day at Bro Park on June 9 was dominated by Danish and Norwegian trainers. The highlight of the event was the Stockholm Stora Pris (Gr.3), where Good Fortune, guided by an impressive ride from Kevin Stott, emerged as the champion. Good Fortune is trained in Denmark by Sören Jensen.
Good Fortune took revenge on Admiral de Vega in the Stockholm Stora Pris. Kevin Stott stepped in to replace a sick Oliver Wilson and delivered a spectacular race:
"With only five horses, there's often a bit more strategy involved, but everything worked out well and the horse was in excellent condition," he commented.
Trainer Sören Jensen was naturally very pleased:
"The horse has improved and it was great to secure a win now. He's a true gentleman to work with, a dream horse."
Mystery Night shines in Bloomers’ Vase (L)
Former jockey Jan-Erik Neuroth has had a remarkable start to his training career. After winning the Voterlöpning at Jägersro, he followed up with a victory in the Bloomers’ Vase (L) with Mystery Night.
"It's fantastic, the horses are really performing well," said a satisfied trainer.
This was the first black type victory for Mystery Night, a five-year-old mare by Night Of Thunder. She was a £120,000 purchase by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock for Stall Perlen at the Arqana Breeze Up Sale 2021, which was held at Doncaster.
Easywithme secures win in Swedish 1000 Guineas
Norwegian trainer Niels Petersen was, as usual, very active during the major races. His filly Easywithme sprinted to victory in the Swedish 1000 Guineas, and earlier in the day, his Mozart effortlessly won the Bobbie Killicks Memorial Race.
Easywithme was purchased by Edgar Byrne at the Goffs Sportsman's Yearling Sale 2022 for just €6,000. This Swedish 1000 Guineas win was worth €51,000.
Brigadier clinches Swedish 2000 Guineas
Jockeyklubbens Swedish 2000 Guineas saw a strong win by the Danish-bred colt Brigadier. Trainer Bent Olsen achieved his first victory in this race, and owner Lone Kaj-Nielsen has developed yet another top horse.
"This could be one of the best horses Lone has had," said a very pleased trainer.
This was Brigadier's second classic victory as he also won the Danish 2000 Guineas in May.
Aphelios edges competition in Bro Park Vårsprint (L)
The closest Swedish victory came in the Bro Park Vårsprint (L), with the winning horse, Aphelios, owned by the ambitious Väsby Horse (Hans Sköld).
Aphelios, previously trained by Michael Appleby, was bought by Walter Buick at the 2023 Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale for 65,000 guineas.
The veteran El Guanche, trained by Nina Lensvik, fought bravely and was beaten by just a short length.
